Section 8 Family Self Sufficiency Program
| The Section 8 Family
Self Sufficiency Program (FSS) enables families to
achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency.
The goal is to eliminate the clients’ need for
public assistance. The HRA operates the FSS program
in conjunction with the Greenfield Housing Authority.
A number of public and private organizations support
FSS participants with skill building, job training,
educational opportunities, child care, and transportation
and mentoring.

Section 8 Housing
Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) tenant-based participants
who are in good standing are eligible to participate, provided
they agree to sign a five year Contract of Family Participation.
The participant takes an active role in the design and future
modification of their plan and in most cases, the plan is
to secure and sustain employment and ultimately independence
from the program.
HRA’s FSS Coordinator identifies community resources
to assist families to achieve their personal goal of homeownership,
starting their own business, obtaining a college degree,
and/or gaining meaningful employment. Program participants
gain community supports such as child care and transportation
while receiving the education and training necessary to
achieve their goals.
All HCVP tenant-based voucher recipients in good standing
are encouraged to apply for Family Self Sufficiency. Interested
applicants can contact the shared HRA/GHA FSS Coordinator,
Ellen Campbell, Greenfield Housing Authority, at (413) 774-2932
