HRA's Public Housing Services

Today, more than 190 Franklin County and North Quabbin families enjoy sanitary, safe, and affordable housing developed throughout the region by the HRA.

HRA owns and administers a variety of housing developments located in towns throughout Franklin County. The HRA works to develop public housing that responds to the needs of residents and is consistent with the character of our region's rural communities.


Affordable Housing for Elderly & Disabled

HRA has developed 163 units of Chapter 667 housing for low-income elders and people with disabilities. The HRA owns 71 units in the towns of Bernardston, Gill, Montague (Turners Falls), and Northfield. The HRA also manages and maintains 46 units at Highland Village in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts.

Affordable Housing for Families

HRA's state funded Chapter 705 public housing for families are small, scattered-site rental properties in neighborhood settings. HRA owns and operates 27 units in Bernardston, Buckland, Charlemont, Northfield, and Orange, Massachusetts.

Affordable Housing for Congregate Living

The 17 person congregate living facility is located within close proximity to stores and bus routes in downtown Turners Falls, Massachusetts. The building has private efficiency/studio apartments with shared living areas for elders and people with disabilities.
